EDISON BAHE
Bahe led Coconino boys basketball to the 1989 4A state championship game. The team finished that season 31-1. Bahe later attended Yavapai College, where he still holds the program’s season scoring record, with an average of 23.9 points per game.


VINCENT CORTESE
During his golf career at Northland Preparatory Academy, Cortese qualified for the state tournament every year and led the Spartans to their first-ever appearance at the state championships in 2017. He continued his career at Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, becoming MAC Freedom Individual champion. Cortese led Stevens to a conference title in 2021 and their first NCAA Championships appearance.


MIKE DOLBY
Dolby graduated from Coconino High School in 1983 after becoming an All-State defensive lineman and champion wrestler during his career. He went on to letter four times at Boise State, and was named Outstanding Team Player his senior year.




KEITH JOHANSON
Johanson has been a long-time member of the local hockey community, beginning in the late 1980s when he got involved with the Flagstaff Youth Hockey Association. Johanson helped popularize the sport in Flagstaff at the high school level, coaching the Mountain Stars to a state championship in 2001. He moved up to coach NAU Club Hockey in 2008.


PATRICK NACKARD
Since graduating from Flagstaff High School in 1969, Nackard has become the CEO of Nackard Pepsi and has been a consistent and generous donor to northern Arizona teams and events.


TRINA PAINTER
Since 2003, Painter has led Flagstaff High School’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams to 21 state championships and has coached 14 individual champions.


TERRENCE SIMS
Sims earned nine letters at Flagstaff High School in football, basketball and track and field. He was First Team All-State in basketball in 1982 and medaled in the high jump and long jump at the state championships. Sims went on to play college basketball at Eastern Arizona College and NAU, where he was named Big Sky Conference Sixth Man of the Year in 1986.
DAVID WINSLEY
Winsley was part of two football state championship teams at Flagstaff High School, and went on to play at Arizona State. Winsley led the Sun Devils in rushing in 1989, his senior year. By the end of the 1985 high school football season, Winsley had rushed for 4,880 yards, the most in state history.


2001 & 2002 COCONINO VOLLEYBALL STATE CHAMPIONS
Coconino graduate Dan Kitterman coached the Panthers to their first-ever volleyball state title in 2001, going 24-2 and defeating Catalina Foothills in the final. He then handed the reins to fellow alum Kerry Kriesel, who guided the team to a 19-6 record and a win over Prescott for their second-straight championship.
